CHAMPZY: A MISSING CHILD SPEAKS

May 19 — May 28, 2023
360 Art Space, Miami, FL.
(395 NE 59th St)

An Art Exhibition created to combat Child Sex Trafficking

CHAMPZY’s art is meant to raise awareness about important humanitarian issues while challenging his audience to consider new viewpoints which support an expanded understanding of the issue. The art exhibition A MISSING CHILD SPEAKS is a combination of visual art, installations, and performances, each illustrating some aspect of the nefarious world of child human trafficking or child abuse. However, the unique spin of this collection is that it focuses on the concept of the wounded “inner child” of the offenders as well.

An intention of the collection is to portray the presence of unresolved emotional trauma from infancy, childhood, and adolescence of offenders. In many of the works, symbols of unresolved trauma or the figure of an inner child and accompanying drawings in wax crayon or pastel can be seen.

The collection is approximately 8 medium to large scale paintings of acrylic and mixed media works. In addition, three large format installations illustrate different offender archetypes with the intention to convey the full raw emotion and striking impact the characters deserve. There is no gross depiction of violence or sexual abuse.

A live performance accompanies an installation on each Saturday evening of the exhibition beginning with Act I: Blind Repercussion on Opening Weekend, Saturday May 20th. The final performance, Act II: Coming Home, is a 22 minute immersive stage performance preceding the official closing ceremony of the exhibition, taking place Saturday May 27th at 8:00 PM Eastern. A professional live stream will be available for free viewing and replay.

All of the art work is on sale to support the fundraising goal of the exhibition. All donations and 100% of proceeds from art sales benefit Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.), the world's most effective organization combatting child trafficking and supporting rehabilitation for victims. Learn more at https://ourrescue.org. The Exhibition is officially recognized by O.U.R. and approved for use of their logo in supporting materials.

This project has been completely self-funded by CHAMPZY (no sponsors) as a labor of love. He is fueled by artistic passion and an intense dedication to supporting philanthropic causes with his work, firmly believing that this collection needed to be created and shared no matter what the cost.

CHAMPZY is a surreal neo-expressionist painting from the subconscious of his inner child. CHAMPZY was born in Miami, FL to Colombian and Cuban immigrants, and comes from a family of other artists. CHAMPZY paints mainly acrylic large format pieces and employs mixed media for his signature "estacheo" effect, a made up word he uses to describe the childlike gestures and artwork he adds to his paintings as a defining element of his work and style. To him, it represents unbound creativity and free expression, infusing color and expressing the raw emotion the painting is communicating to him. Follow @_stefanleon on Instagram for more.
